What is Scalp Micro-pigmentation? (SMP)
SMP is cosmetic tattooing (medical hair tattoo) that offers a solution to hair loss by replicating hair follicles that are about to grow giving the impression of a shaved look. SMP can treat anywhere on the scalp that is losing hair or even complete baldness of the scalp.
What is the cost?
Prices vary from £600-£2500 depending on hair loss, please send us photos of your hair loss and we can provide an accurate quote with more details.
How long will the treatment take?
This is dependent on the amount of hair loss. As a general rule you will be looking at 3 or 4 sessions over a 6-8 week period. Each session can last 2-4 hours.
How long does it last?
Scalp micro-pigmentation is designed to last a number of years and typically we would expect this treatment to last between 1-3 years with some minor touch ups. However, it is impossible to predict the exact length of time it will last, as each patient is different, and lifestyle choice and other variables can effect the treatment in individual cases. However, some patients may have the remnants of this treatment for a longer period.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is not painful as the depth the pigment is implanted is only in the dermis and not deep like a body art tattoo. We advise not working in longer than 4 hour sessions, as it is a residual build up of ‘irritation’ that can eventually make the scalp feel sore.
Does it look real?
Scalp micro pigmentation gives the look of a shaven head or a stubble shadow look, the treatment at Scalpfinity will be undetectable, only you, the people you choose to tell and Scalpfinity will know.
Are the results permanent?
Results of completed treatments will last for years, depending on lifestyle and immune system. Many clients like to have a top-up session after 2 or 3 years just to keep their new style looking fresh.
What is the colour selection?
We offer a wide selection of pigments, but all of them are a shades of grey – up to the black one. In our SMP treatments we use pigments specially designed to this purpose, which contain only black colour and its shades, thus preventing its discolouration in the long-term. The colour fades gradually, and we perform the refreshing treatment after about 2 to 3 years.
Are there any side effects?
SMP has few, if any, side effects. However, it is worth noting that your scalp will be a little red after each application, and the dots will be darker and larger as your skin begins to heal. But, again, the tiny scabs that form over each dot will heal and fall off, taking some of the pigment with them.
Is SMP safe?
Yes, it is entirely safe. The treatment is non-invasive and carried out with high level of hygiene. We use exclusively dedicated pigments and equipment. Needles and adhering elements are disposable.
What is the aftercare?
For the first few days after the scalp pigmentation procedure, there are several steps you should take care in following. In order to obtain the best results it is vital to follow the instructions as set out below:
Ensure to avoid:
Touching your scalp.
